The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban: Bigger, Better, More

Chevrolet appears to be loosening up its jaws to gnaw a huge chunk of the ute market with the unveiling of the all-new versions of the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban.

The 2021 models of the pair—the most popular and profitable vehicles in the Golden Bow Tie’s lineup— went through a radical re-engineering and retooling process while using Ford’s suspension system to make the cars more spacious, comfortable, and stable.

Not only that, Chevrolet also went through painstaking efforts to cram as much advanced tech and variants as it possibly could to give customers the best quality ute with the widest range of choices imaginable.

Traditionally, the two full-size SUVs have always been the biggest in North America, so it comes as no surprise that the new versions are the largest that General Motors has made them. How big are they now? Well, the Suburban sees a 19 percent increase in its cargo space, while the Tahoe, a whopping 66 percent boost.

“There are no vehicles like Tahoe and Suburban – which have starred in Hollywood movies, carried military heroes and world leaders, and helped create countless family memories,” said Barry Engle, executive vice president and president, General Motors North America. “We’ve taken what people love about these pioneering SUVs and made them even better – adding more room for people and cargo, more advanced technology and an unrivaled driving experience.”

Improvements to the already-formidable pair were achieved by “combining the strongest aspects of its new full-size truck architecture with entirely new systems tailored to the needs of today’s SUV drivers and passengers,” Chevrolet said. Consequently, these changes imbue the cars with class-leading interior space, dramatically improved driving dynamics, a high-tech SUV-specific interior, and utmost safety.

Additionally, both the Tahoe and Suburban have 30 safety and driver convenience tech, including a passenger sensing system, HD rear vision camera, forward collision alert, seat-mounted side impact airbag, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, Hitch Guidance for trailering, and IntelliBeam automatic headlamp control.

Chevrolet also offers optional  technologies including a new HD Surround Vision1, new rear pedestrian alert, lane change alert with side blind zone alert with enhancements for trailering, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, front and rear park assist and head-up display.

The vehicles are scheduled to start arriving in the Golden Bow Tie’s American dealerships in the middle of 2020. Pricing was not announced.
