The Newest E-Class Lineup Is Here

2020 E Class Sedan

Although the 2020 Geneva Auto Show remains cancelled, Mercedes Benz is keeping things exciting by revealing the newest E Class range.

The 2021 E Class sedan underwent a major facelift, ditching the old grille for a diamond grille and three-part air dam that can also be seen in the A Class. Styling cues are slightly gentler, as the 2021 E Class switched its angular profile for a sleeker, more restrained look. From the back, the rear fascia of the E Class is framed by triangular tail lamps and slender angular twin exhaust tips. The new E Class sedan is equipped with 14 spoke alloy wheels.

The interior of the new E Class didn’t stray much from its predecessor. The E Class is fitted with a new three spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, leather-trimmed everything, and two 10.25 inch screens that come with the latest MBUX infotainment system, arguably one of the best in the car industry right now.

The two screens can be swapped for the optional 12.3 inch screens as well. The cabin is available in three trim options: (1) Open Pore Silver Ashwood, (2) Brushed Aluminum, and (3) Aluminum with a Carbon Grain trims.

Aside from cosmetic updates, Mercedes Benz also gave the newest E Class some new safety features. There’s now an upgraded driver0assistance technology, and the new steering wheel has a capacitie hands-off detection. The adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and self parking functions have also been upgraded.

The new E350 will use the same 2.0 liter inline four cylinder (255 hp; 370 Nm of torque) engine as before, and still comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission with either a rear or all wheel drive option. But this update now brings the E350e, a plug in hybrid, to the US market. This variant is available only with a rear wheel drive configuration, and puts out 315 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The E450 ditches the V6 and opts for a 3.0 liter inline six instead, with a 48V hybrid system. This model produces 362 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

For the AMG line, the E53 is still equipped with an AMG-tuned 3.0 liter inline six that puts out 429 hp and 520 Nm of torque, paired up with a 9-speed auto.

Mercedes Benz is also releasing an All-Terrain variant of the E Class, although there aren’t any images yet.

The 10th generation E Class will arrive at various dealerships in the US by the end of the year.
