Tollway operators waive collection on Christmas, New Year

The tollway operators in the northern and southern Luzon expressways have announced that they will not collect toll payments on Christmas and New Year's day.

In their respective advisories, the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and San Miguel Corporation said they will be waiving toll fees for the two holidays.

For MPTC, the non-collection of fees will take place at all toll booths in the North Luzon Expressway, (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), C5 Link, and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).

For SMC Infrastructure, the toll holiday will be implemented in the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), Southern Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, NAIA Expressway, and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon Ang noted that such move is an annual tradition for the company, while MPTC President and CEO Rodrigo Franco said that the move is a “simple treat is part of our group’s initiative to give back to our customers especially this holiday season.”

The toll holidays will take place from 10PM of December 24, to 6AM Christmas Day and will also be made in from 10PM New Year’s Eve  till 6AM January 1.
