Earlier, Toyota temporarily stopped production in some of its factories in the past few months due to COVID-19 infection in the workplace and the global chip shortage.
For next month, the Aichi prefecture-based automotive brand said that it will suspend production in seven of its plants in Japan due to the impact of semiconductor scarcity.
The facilities are the Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Motomachi Plant, TMC Takaoka Plant, TMC Tsutsumi Plant, TMC Tahara Plant, TMC Miyata Plant, the Toyota Industries Corporation factory, and the Hino Motors, Ltd., Hamura Plant.
According to Toyota, its Motomachi facility will have its GR model production line temporarily closed from October 3-4 (directly affecting GR Yaris production) while the Takaoka factory will have its “Production line #2” temporarily suspended from October 7-8, October 10-15, and from October 17 to 20 (affecting production of Rav4 and Harrier).
Meanwhile, the manufacturing facility in Tsutsumi will temporarily close “Production line #2” (affecting production of Toyota Corolla Sport, Camry, and Crown) on October 8 and 15. The Tahara complex will pause “Production line #1” (directly affecting production of Land Cruiser Prado, Lexus GX, Toyota 4Runner), also on October 8 and 15, and its “Production line #3” (affecting production of Lexus LS, IS, RC, RC F, and NX) on October 6-8 and 14-15.
On the other hand, the “Production line #1” and “Production line #2” in Toyota’s industrial unit in Miyata will undergo a transitory pause (affecting production of Lexus NX, NX450h+, ES, CT, UX, UX300e, ES, and RX) on October 8 and 15. The Toyota Industries Corporation will follow suit with temporary closure of “Production line #301” and “Production line #302” (directly affecting production of RAV4 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle [PHEV> and RAV4) on October 8, October 10-15, and October 17-21.
Hino Motors, Ltd., who recently found itself in hot water, will have the “Production line #1” of its Hamura Plant temporarily suspended from October 6-7, 14, 21, and 28 (affecting production of Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and FJ Cruiser).
