Toyota unveils Tamaraw's counterpart in Thailand

Toyota has launched the Tamaraw's counterpart in Thailand.

Dubbed the Hilux Champ, Toyota Motor Thailand said that the vehicle — which is built on the IMV 0 platform — is highly customizable.

The vehicle, per the Japanese automaker’s  arm in the Land of Smiles, can help make its owners’ vision come true and their lives more colorful, from business to private life, through customizability.

True enough, 11 customized Toyota Hilux Champs (out of the eight available variants) were presented upon the model’s launch in Thailand.

On top of the aforementioned eight variants, customers can select three engine types (a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, a 2.7-liter gasoline engine, and a 2.4-liter diesel engine) and two transmission options (a five-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic).

Toyota is also selling a model with no equipment but a flat deck, probably for customers who might want to build their rigs from scratch.

Equipped with a two-wheel drive system, the Toyota Hilux Champ boasts a maximum loading capacity of around 1,000 kilograms.

“As the automotive industry continues to evolve and customer needs diversify, the lifestyles of Thai customers also continue to change. For the IMV series, Toyota decided to return to its origins to create an IMV pickup truck that is truly affordable and meets the needs of customers. Local engineers led the development of the IMV 0 after thoroughly researching customer lifestyles,” Toyota wrote in a press release.

The Thai-spec Toyota Hilux Champ has a price tag that ranges from approximately P728,436-P915,703.
