3 Common Car AC Problems Avoided with Regular Vehicle Maintenance

ac air conditioner

A functioning car air conditioning system is a necessity, especially during the hot scorching days of summer. Observing regular vehicle maintenance, and having any cooling issues checked before they worsen, can guarantee that. A lot of things can go wrong with your car's AC system, and so you need to give it the care and attention it deserves.

It helps to know some of the more common problems you may face with your car AC system. Most of the issues that come up in auto air-conditioning develop with use and over time. It is easier to deal with these problems when you notice them early.

Leaks

One fairly common problem in car AC systems is leaks, which can be caused by a variety of factors, among them faulty manifolds on the compressor, and wear and tear in the AC’s many rubber seals. Regular car maintenance provided by a competent service center or garage will ensure that these problems are identified and resolved.

When it comes to AC system leaks, your best recourse is to replace leaky parts instead of just repairing them. Sources of leaks can turn into long cracks very quickly, thereby making any attempts at repair unsuccessful.

Blockages

The condenser is the part of the AC system responsible for supplying the cabin with cooled air, and any blockages in the condenser assembly can mean that it is not able to circulate cool air properly. Dirt can accumulate in the condenser, a problem easily prevented when you follow your car AC system’s recommended checkup. A trained mechanic will know how to clean the condenser well without damaging the fins. Doing this will not only improve the condenser’s ability to keep you cool but prolong its lifespan as well.

Low Coolant Levels

The AC system’s refrigerant content is a key element in its optimal function. Unfortunately, even if the refrigerant is in a sealed vacuum, it will still evaporate over time. A leakage may also cause the refrigerant to dissipate, only at a much faster pace than normal. The solution to this is to refill the refrigerant to the recommended levels. When you take your car for a maintenance service, the mechanics can tell you if the refrigerant levels are too low. In this case, topping up the refrigerant before it causes irreparable damage will save you costly repairs and a mountain of inconveniences later.
