CAR COMPARISON: 2018 vs 2019 Toyota Hiace
The Philippines had the privilege of hosting the global launch of the 2019 Toyota Hiace, which ushered in the sixth generation of the long-running van model. Looking at the latest version, it's easy to see that the all-new Hiace model is worlds apart from its predecessor.
For starters, the engine goes from the cab-over-engine design of old to a more conventional engine placement. The new van is also longer and wider, and the increase in size is obvious in the seating capacity, especially in the top-spec trims. Ingress and egress is also easier in the new model, thanks to improvements in design, occupant space, and convenience features.
What's more amazing is that all these new advantages come at a lower price, for while the 2018 Super Grandia LXV costs PHP2,671,000 (PhP2,686,000 for White Pearl), the 2019 GL Grand Tourer maxes out at PHP2,220,000 (PhP2,235,000 for Luxury Pearl Toning).
Curious how these upmost trims stack up against each other? In this spec-by-spec car comparison, we pit the 2018 Super Grandia 3.0 A/T LXV against the 2019 GL Grandia Tourer 2.8 Diesel A/T.
