Ford Ranger Delivers Record Asia Pacific Sales in 2018 for 10th Consecutive Year
The Ford Ranger pickup truck achieved all-time record sales for the Asia Pacific region in 2018--the 10th consecutive year--with retail sales increasing five percent from the previous year to 139,501 vehicles. The Ranger's record-breaking year was driven by its best-ever full-year performance in Thailand, the Philippines and New Zealand. It also maintained its multi-year run as the best-selling pickup truck in both New Zealand and Vietnam. The new, off-road, high-performance Ford Ranger Raptor, which started launching across Asia Pacific markets in the third quarter, contributed to the Ranger's 2018 record with sales of more than 5,030 vehicles. With a decade of annual sales records, the Ranger has come to define the pickup truck segment in Asia Pacific with its unparalleled combination of toughness, capability, smart technologies, fuel efficiency, and bold design. "The Ranger continues to set the benchmark for the pickup truck segment with its unmatched versatility and capabilities," said Peter Fleet, president, Ford Asia Pacific. "The launch of the new Ranger in 2018 allowed it to continue revolutionizing the segment, with Ranger Raptor pushing its success story to the next level and further transforming the ownership experience for truck enthusiasts across the region." A freshened lineup of the Ford Ranger in 2018 delivered an even more capable pickup with more class-leading technology, safety and convenience features, including an advanced Bi-Turbo diesel engine mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission. "The new powertrain offers greater torque, improved engine refinement with fuel economy improvements, while the updated suspension offers improved ride performance to the Ranger," said Gary Boes, enterprise product line manager, Global Compact Trucks, Ford Asia Pacific. "These upgrades allow us to continue to deliver on the 'Built Ford Tough' pedigree that our customers have come to expect from Ford trucks."
