MMDA, Bayad partner to enable erring motorists to pay fines digitally

Bayad mobile can now be use to settle traffic-related violations

Multi-channel payment company Bayad has renewed its ties with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) that will enable the motoring public to pay traffic fines via digital means.

Recently, Bayad and MMDA (along with the Landbank of the Philippines) conducted a partnership signing event to announce that the Bayad App and Bayad Online digital platforms can now help anyone who has to settle traffic penalties.

Through the latest online payment arrangements, Filipinos who have violations pertaining to traffic, jaywalking, and anti-littering, need not to go to the MMDA head office or take the time off from work just to pay for the ticket. This is because those who have received the ticket may utilize Bayad’s more than 60,000 touch points across the country.

In a statement, both Bayad and MMDA highlighted the significance of establishing an online payment system for traffic violation fines.

“In today's era of digital transformation, this alternative cashless payment option offers greater convenience for our clients especially amid the ongoing pandemic. Contactless payment also means less exposure to the public (no contact transaction) and less possibility of acquiring the COVID-19 virus,” MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos was quoted as saying.

“With Bayad's digital payment platforms, we are certain that this effort will fast-track the current process and will translate to better services to the public and better traffic on the road,“ he added.

Meanwhile, Bayad President and Chief Executive Officer Lawrence Ferrer said that simplifying the settlement will encourage Filipinos to attend to their responsibilities.

“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Bayad and MMDA’s existing five-year alliance to help Filipino commuters and motorists pay their fines and obligations in a more convenient way. By helping ease the process of MMDA traffic violation settlement, we are encouraging more Filipinos to responsibly fulfill their obligations by making it easy for them as they can pay through our onsite or online channels” Ferrer shared.

Aside from MMDA, Bayad has been collaborating for digital payment solutions with over 22 government partner billers, which includes the Government Service Insurance System, Social Security SystemHome Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG), PhilHealth, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, among others.
