New Nissan Patrol Nismo bared for Middle East market

Nissan Patrol NISMO

Nissan's performance brand Nismo has fitted the Patrol SUV with real performance modifications that make it worthy to share a name with the 370Z and GT-R sports cars.

For starters, the Patrol Nismo's V8 engine produces 428hp and 560Nm of torque, tuned by the same team that did the GT-R's mill.

The SUV also features Bilstein shock absorbers that promise sportier handling characteristics, and a wheel weight reduction of 4.5 kilograms that aims to boost braking performance.

Aerodynamic modifications, too, were done to the Patrol Nismo's front bumper and roof spoiler, while body structure has been reinforced.

Sold exclusively to the Middle Eastern market, the Patrol Nismo also marks the 70th anniversary of the Patrol nameplate.

The SUV's sporting intent is even made clear by its exterior, with a honeycomb three-dimensional mesh that emphasizes the V-Motion grille, along with new front lamps and horizontal chrome lines embellished with the Nismo emblem.

The signature Nismo red line wrap runs from the Patrol's front apron to its side skirts, and blends with the rear diffuser. The rear also features LED rear fog lights inspired by the Nissan Formula E car, which Nissan said emits the same brightness as the car's brake lights in adverse conditions.

Meanwhile, 22-inch two-tone aluminum wheels that sport the Nismo logo add a distinctive aesthetic.

Moving on to the interior, there are black quilted leather seats which sport red Alcantara inserts and Nismo logos embossed on the headrests. Black alcantara also wraps the steering wheel like a true race car, and the tachometer appears to have a red background, too.

The interior accommodates technology upgrades to the Patrol Nismo that include Apple CarPlay compatibility, wireless charging capability, and USB ports including USB-A and USB-C.

The Patrol NISMO also packs a host of safety aids such as Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Smart Rear View Mirror, and High Beam Assist. These are part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) technologies to provide drivers with peace of mind while driving.

"Designing Nismo road cars is both a challenge and a beautiful opportunity to express our passion for design on a superlative level," said Chief Designer for Nismo Mitsunori Morita.

"We designed Nissan Patrol Nismo with a unique customer in mind, one with a true passion for performance. We consider every finest detail to provide the most exciting and authentic experience to fuel the adrenaline and inspire the imagination of the excitement-seekers," Morita added.

The excitement-seekers will shell out United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) 385,000 for one of these Patrol Nismo SUVs, and choose among the color options of White Pearl, Black Solid, and gray and silver metallic.
