NLEX Lingunan Southbound Entry

MANILA: NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) Corporation has started constructing the new Lingunan Southbound Entry.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When will the NLEX Corporation open the new Lingunan Southbound Entry?

The updated ramp is scheduled to be opened in April 2025.
  • How will the new Lingunan Southbound Entry improved traffic?

The soon-to-be-opened ramp will provide motorists with an alternative route to reduce traffic congestion in Lawang Bato, Punturin, Maysan, Paso de Blas, and East Service Road.
  • Spanning 491 meters, the soon-to-be opened ramp — which is being done in partnership with the Valenzuela City government — is scheduled to be completed by April.

Once completed, the new Lingunan Southbound Entry will provide motorists with new access to NLEX through the aforementioned plaza — which could help decongest the local roads in the city.

“We recognize that Valenzuela is a rapidly developing city. The construction of the new southbound entry will strengthen it as a growing industrial and commercial center. We in MPTC and NLEX want to help harness that economic potential,” Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation President and Chief Operating Officer Arrey Perez said.

“This private-public initiative will improve traffic congestion in Valenzuela by providing an alternative entry point for motorists at the Paso de Blas Interchange,” he added.

For his part, Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie Gatchalian welcomed the development. “The construction of the southbound entry in Barangay Lingunan will provide motorists with an alternative route to reduce traffic congestion in Lawang Bato, Punturin, Maysan, Paso de Blas, and East Service Road. We are very pleased to work with NLEX and TRB on these traffic solutions for all road users,” he explained.

To accommodate the construction, the Lingunan Southbound Exit was temporarily closed for a month. It was reopened last February 10.

The tollway operator mentioned that it has been working closely with the local government to improve travel experience in the area.

In 2010, NLEX placed new entry and exit options to the expressway from the east of Valenzuela, via Mindanao Avenue. Some five years later, the tollway created the Karuhatan Toll Plaza for westbound traffic.

Further the company also opened the Lingunan Southbound Exit, which became an alternative route for vehicles traveling from the north to northern Valenzuela. This was followed by the construction of the Mapulang Lupa Overpass and the Lawang Bato Northbound Exit in 2019.
