Further, the HMPH president said that the Philippine-spec Hyundai Ioniq 5— which was previewed at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) and the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) — will come in four colors: Phantom Black Pearl, Cyber Gray Metallic, Atlas White, and Gravity Gold Matte.
Moreover, the EV offering will be packaged with a five-year or 200,000-kilometer (km) warranty, eight-year or 160,000km high-voltage battery warranty, and five-years or 75,000-km free maintenance service.
Recently the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was hailed as the 2022-2023 Import Car of the Year at Japan Car of the Year (JCOTY).
The Korean all-electric sport utility vehicle (which formed part of the 2022-2023 JCOTY shortlist) has beaten its competitors namely the BMW iX, Land Rover Range Rover and Renault Arkana—all of which were part of the 10 Best Cars of the Year.
The newest accolade is also the first time for the aforementioned automotive manufacturer to snatch an award at JCOTY.
“Ioniq 5 signals a bold new direction in electric mobility for customers in Japan and around the world. Already the winner of prestigious global awards, including World Car of the Year, to be recognized in Japan is a significant achievement, especially against such strong competition," Hyundai Mobility Japan Chief Executive Officer Won Sang Cho said.
"Since it went on sale in Japan earlier this year, IONIQ 5 has received positive feedback from consumers who have praised the IONIQ 5's design, engineering and excellent driving range. We will continue to strive to contribute to the future of mobility with sincerity and humility for the Japanese market," the CEO added.
Per Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 was evaluated by the judges for its innovative exterior, interior design, outstanding driving range and dynamic performance. “They also valued it for its various convenience and safety features that enhance driving pleasure,” the automaker noted.
Prior to the new recognition, the model — which was developed based on the Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) — has already earned various awards such as the 2022 German Car of the Year, 2022 UK Car of the Year, among others.
Among the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s key features include vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, as well as its various driver assistance technologies to enhance the in-car experience for drivers and passengers.
