Toyota sells 797K vehicles in Jul. 2022
Toyota revealed that it encountered a decline in both sales in production in July due to the impact of the global spread of COVID-19, as well as the parts supply shortage caused by the increased demand for semiconductors.

Per Toyota, its exports for the month of July reached 158,308 units.Not only did the Aichi-based brand experience factory suspensions due to workplace-related COVID-19 infection, but the company also faced issues relating to the commercial vehicle and diesel engine company it owns — Hino Motors.
Despite the challenges, Toyota continues to deliver and has shared that the company has sold 797,179 units in July. Per Toyota, around 104,431 units (including mini vehicles) were sold in Japan while 692,748 units were sold outside of the country.
The automotive company also exported a total of 158,308 units.
Last month, Toyota produced a total of 706,547 units. Of the aforementioned volume, 221,817 came inside of Japan while 484,730 were made outside the country.
Toyota also revealed the sales, production, and export results for its subsidiaries — Hino and Daihatsu.
Hino reportedly produced 10,840 units in Japan and has made 4,178 units outside of the country. Daihatsu, on the other hand, made 70,313 vehicles inside Japan and 43,314 vehicles outside the country.
The figures translate to a 3,179-unit domestic sales and 8,897-unit non-domestic sales for Hino in July. For Daihatsu’s part, it sold 47,137 vehicles inside Japan and 16,365 outside the country for the said month.
Export-wise, only Hino (out of Toyota’s subsidiaries), was able to send vehicles overseas. Hino’s export total for July was 5,744 units.
“The situation remains difficult to predict due to semiconductor shortages and COVID-19. However, we will continue to carefully monitor the parts supply situation and minimize sudden decreases in production as much as possible while making every effort to deliver as many vehicles to our customers at the earliest date,” Toyota said in a press release.
