MANILA: Toyota is set to bring in the ninth-generation Hilux to the market next year.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) bared such a development after the pickup truck’s aforementioned version was recently revealed in Thailand. There, it is called the Hilux Travo.

So while waiting, here are the possible specifications of the Philippine-bound Toyota Hilux as seen in the version in the Land of Smiles.
The incoming iteration of the Toyota Hilux is expected to be fitted with the same powertrain options — a 2.4- or 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel mill — that are paired with either a manual or automatic transmissions (both in six-speed configurations).
Carmudi Philippines is also hoping that the model will serve as a gateway to introducing a battery electric powertrain. Should this come true, the electrified model might be named Travo — just like what they did on the Ativ for the Vios, and Zenix to the Innova.

Out of the three, only the Radar RD6 Econ is considered its direct competitor as the offering from BYD and Changan both utilize internal combustion engines and electric motors while the last one is identified as a battery electric vehicle.
For the possibly-arriving electrified trim, the pickup truck will be equipped with a dual eAxle powertrain matched to a 52.9-kilowatt-hour energy bank.
