AAP, MMDA, PNP-HPG provide reflectorized vest to cyclists on EDSA

With more and more cyclists now plying major thoroughfares like EDSA, national auto club Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) reminded them to stay safe by being visible on the road no matter the time of day they are riding.

Through the help of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), the AAP recently handed over some 300 reflectorized vests, #3500Lives shirts, #3500Lives booklets and copies of Land Transportation and Traffic Code booklets to cyclists in EDSA.

Aside from that, the club also turned over 200 units of the same road safety items to the MMDA and PNP-HPG.

Spearheading the distribution were AAP Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mark Desales, AAP Advocacy Manager Cynthia Reyes, MMDA Traffic Management Division Representative Anthony Pagulayan, Department of Transportation Consultant Alberto Suansing, MMDA Traffic Operations Chief Bong Nebrija and PNP-HPG  Director Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz.

Initially a program to teach children how to stay visible on the road, the AAP’s #3500 Lives Stay Bright Project has also reached out to cyclists following the skyrocketing number of bicycle users at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Back in 2016, Carmudi Philippines partnered with AAP by assisting the organization with the printing of the  booklet copies for the Republic Act 4136.
