Araneta City installs initial batch of EV chargers

Araneta City started installing the initial charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) within the parking areas of its commercial centers and office towers.

The first batch of EV charging stations were placed at the basement parking of Cyberparks 1 and 2 — to be followed by the hubs in Gateway Malls 1 and 2 as well as the soon-to-open Cyberpark 3 (as shared to Carmudi Philippines).

Each station comes with Level-2 chargers with five-meter Type 2 connector cables and a three-phase grid power supply.

“Araneta City continues to transition into a sustainable and environment-friendly community by implementing green initiatives like the EV charging stations. It is a step to keep the City of Firsts future-proof and adaptive to the evolving needs of times," Araneta City Senior Vice President for Operations Antonio Mardo was quoted as saying.

The said efforts are part of the programs that Araneta City has conducted to promote sustainability. Earlier, the company placed solar panels at Cyberpark 1, green building design elements in Cyberpark 2, adopted the LEED standards in Cyberpark 3, power Ali Mall using geothermal energy, and the launch of Green and Go e-shuttles.

"Through these initiatives, the City of Firsts supports the current push to reduce carbon footprint and adopt eco-friendly lifestyle options," Mardo concluded.
