BUYER'S GUIDE: 2019 Honda Accord

The tenth generation of Honda's answer to the Toyota Camry has already been launched in the neighboring Southeast Asian country of Thailand. Will ours be next? Not that we're aching to have the car replaced soon--on the contrary, the 2019 Honda Accord is as current as any car can be, and worthy of a few months more in the market. Take a look at what makes the car a good purchase in this 2019 Honda Accord Buyer's Guide.

Specification

The 2019 Accord is available in the lone 2.4 S Navi variant, which comes powered by an inline 4-cylinder, 16-Valve DOHC i-VTEC engine with Earth Dreams Technology. Output is at 173 hp and 226 Nm, and the engine is matched with a five-speed automatic transmission controlled by paddle shifters. Overall dimensions for this five-seater sedan stands at 4,890 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,465 mm high. The wheelbase is 2,775 mm, and ground clearance 150 mm.

Exterior

The Honda Accord's sharp and sporty look starts off with the signature 'Solid Wing Face' front grille that has been the brand's calling card since 2013. The prominent chrome grille is sandwiched by a sleek set of LED headlights consisting of nine individual bulbs lined up in horizontal fashion. The look is mirrored by the foglamps underneath, giving the Accord's front façade a truly imposing look. Speaking of LEDs, all the exterior lights are made of them. At the sides, character lines run the car's entire length, magnified by a stylish downward curve at the front. Wheels are 17- x 7.5-inch Alloys. Buyers get to choose from four different color options, including Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, and White Orchid Pearl.

Interior

Honda describes the Accord's cabin as 'Executive Space,' focusing on spaciousness for both front and rear passengers. All black leather trim surrounds the entire cabin, enhanced by faux wood accents at the dash and steering wheel. A seven-inch touchscreen advanced display serves as the car's infotainment system, which is linked to six speakers. As for connectivity options, the 2019 Honda Accord gives you Bluetooth, two USB ports, an HDMI-in, and iPod and iPhone capabilities. An intelligent dual-zone automatic air conditioning system ensures everyone is feeling cozy and comfy.

Safety

As expected of a Honda, the 2019 Accord some of the most advanced safety and driver-assistance features that can be seen in this price range (PHP1,938,000). Starting with the basics, which include adjustable three-point seatbelts on all seats, two ISOFIX anchors, driver and passenger seatbelt reminder, multiple airbags and a multi-view reverse camera with dynamic guidelines, the Accord also has Stability Control, Lane Departure Warning System, Cruise Control, and Keyless Entry.

Our Verdict

The Accord's consistent evolution has earned it a reputation as one of the most reliable sedans in the market in terms of quality, performance, and comfort. The car manages to hit a home run year after year, and has proven time and again to be an excellent choice for an executive family car.
