Maserati and Hiroshi Fujiwara, known as the "Japanese godfather of street culture," have partnered to create the Maserati Ghibli Operanera and Ghibli Operabianca.

With the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program, customers can create their own Maserati tailored to their unique tastes. They also have the option to get this special edition sedan, which wears the "street style" of Fujiwara’s brand Fragment.

Maserati described Hiroshi Fujiwara as a revered trendsetter who pioneered the streetwear culture of Tokyo in the 1980s. Fujiwara was also one of the first DJs to import hip hop into the Land of the Rising Sun, and as a producer and musician, he has worked with international recording artists.

As a visual artist, he specializes in expressing the urban experience and moods. "Like Maserati, he has the ability to break down barriers and be audacious," the Italian auto marque said.

"In the spirit of itanji which means ‘non-conformist,’ two audacious brands have come together uniting Italian design and Japanese perfection to generate an unexpected limited edition car."

It is limited, indeed, as a total of only 175 examples of the Ghibli Operanera and Operabianca will be distributed worldwide, Maserati said. The two cars can be finished in all black, or a combination of white and black.

Moving to the interior, it's garbed in premium leather and Alcantara, contrasting silver inserts for the vertical stitching, and wears the Trident logo on the headrests. Finally, the seat belts are in dark blue.

The Ghibli Operanera and Operabianca aren't just accessorized cars, as they will bear special codes.

Maserati said the code M157110519FRG appears under the cars' three side air ducts. The first four characters of the code signify the Ghibli model, the next six numbers record the date of the first meeting (Nov. 5, 2019) between Hiroshi and Maserati, and the final three letters are the acronym of Fragment.

A choice of V6 and V8 twin turbo engines can be fitted in the Ghibli. The V6, which makes either 345 or 424 horsepower, and can be had with rear- or all-wheel drive (RWD). The RWD Ghibli Trofeo packs a 580hp twin-turbo V8.
