Toyota has bared its plans for BEV Factory, an organization dedicated to electric vehicles (EV) launched in May.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is Toyota BEV Factory?

Toyota BEV Factory is an organization within the company that is dedicated to electric vehicles (EV).
  • How many EV units does the Toyota BEV Factory plan to produce by 2030?

By 2030, the Toyota BEV Factory plans to produce 1.7 million EV units.
  • Through BEV Factory, the Japanese carmaker said that it aims to change the future with battery electric vehicles (BEV) through the transformation of cars, manufacturing, and the way the company works.

Per Toyota, it will use technologies such as the integration of next-generation batteries and sonic technology to produce cars that have an all-electric cruising range of 1,000 kilometers.

In terms of how their future EVs will look like, Toyota said that their vehicles will be crafted by its designers with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

Toyota’s design team will work to bring natural sensibility to its electric models while the car’s aerodynamic properties will be achieved using AI technology.

In the future, Toyota also said that it will create car bodies using three main components in a modular structure, which consists of the automobile’s front end, middle section, and rear end.

To integrate the three main body parts, Toyota said that it will adopt giga casting in its manufacturing process. Doing so, the automotive brand pointed out, will allow significant component integration and contribute to the reduction of vehicle development costs and factory investment.

Powering Toyota’s future EV units will be new battery systems. While the company has not disclosed any information about its future automotive battery technology, the brand said that it is determined to become a world leader in battery EV energy consumption.

“With the resources we earn, we will improve our product appeal to exceed customer expectations and secure earnings,” Toyota said in a press release.

By 2026, Toyota plans to launch next-generation BEV units and by 2030, 1.7 million units out of 3.5 million overall will be provided by BEV Factory.
