Toyota Motor PH recalls more than 3k units for defective instrument clusters

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is recalling more than 3,000 units for possible defective instrument clusters.

According to TMP, the vehicles that are part of the service campaign are:

• Alphard
• Camry
• Corolla Altis
• Corolla Cross

TMP shared due to a programming error, the 12.3-inch screen that shows warning lights, indicators, and gauges repetitively saves unnecessary data — causing the memory to use up sooner than anticipated.

“If this happens, the screen may not turn on when starting the vehicle and remain off. Driving without a visible speedometer or warning lights may increase the risk of an accident in certain situations,” the company said in the announcement.

TMP also said that involved vehicle owners will receive an Official Notification Letter, which shall be invited to go to an authorized Toyota Dealer to reprogram or replace the affected portion free of charge.

However, the firm said that the reprogramming software and replacement parts for the special service campaign are “expected to be ready by October 2025 or later.”

Once repair parts are available, involved customers are highly encouraged to immediately set an appointment with any authorized Toyota dealer to perform the needed repair and prevent problems from occurring.

Customers may also schedule the repair during the periodic maintenance service appointment if the vehicle is already due or approaching its regular maintenance schedule.
