Toyota PH brings refreshed Yaris

Following the  barrage of vehicle launches this year, it seems that Toyota Motor Philippines will make the closing ceremonies as they have silently introduced the updated version of the Toyota Yaris.

We thought that the launch of the Toyota Fortuner would be the last for the year, but we are not complaining to be wrong on this one.

The numerous launches within the disaster-riddled 2020 for the local arm of the Japanese automaker were for the Toyota HiluxViosCorolla Cross, and Wigo.

In a statement, TMP Vice President of Marketing Services Elijah Marcial said that their famous Yaris is the culmination of their string of vehicle launches this year.

“It’s been a jam-packed year for Toyota this 2020. But we’ve got one last exciting model this year that we’re sure many Filipinos will enjoy,” Marcial said.

Marcial claimed that the market for the Yaris is largely covered by married professionals in their mid to late 30s “looking for a modern fun-to-drive vehicle that offers the great cargo space a hatchback offers.”

“The Yaris nameplate has amassed quite a loyal fan base for being synonymous with fun driving and flashy looks, and this year we’ve elevated it with a new premium eye-catching design to suit our customers’ evolving style. All without, of course, compromising on the power, convenience, and safety we’ve all come to expect from every Toyota,” she added.

The refreshed version of the Yaris is powered by either a 1.3L Dual VVT-i or the 1.5L Dual VVT-i engines mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

For its exterior, the new Toyota Yaris wears a redesigned front grille that gives it a commanding and wide stance, complemented by a new LED fog lamp design. Exclusive on the 1.5 S CVT variant is the wide-winged LED headlamps paired with new Daytime Running Lights (DRL).  To complete the sporty design outside, the Toyota Yaris sits on 15-inch two-tone machine-finish alloy wheels for all variants.

Additional trinkets like glossy piano black accents contrast with the body paint color and chrome finishes on the door handles added character to the new Toyota Yaris. The 1.5 S CVT variant wears paddle shifters, making it more fun to drive as well as Eco and Sport Drive Modes to fit one’s preference.

The new Yaris has an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-ready for its six-speaker infotainment system that can also be accessed with control buttons at the steering wheel.

It may be considered minute in size, but the new Toyota Yaris is big on safety, with its seven airbags as standard on all Yaris variants, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill-Start Assist, among others.  The 1.5 S CVT variant comes with automated safety features like Speed-Sensing Door Locks.

The reservation for the new Yaris started since December 19, but the retail sales in all of TMP’s 70 dealerships across the country will start January 13, 2021.

The new Yaris comes in two variants such as 1.3 E CVT and 1.5 S CVT and is priced P973,000 and P1.114 million respectively. It comes in four colors such as the Cyan Metallic, Citrus Mica Metallic, Red Mica Metallic and Super White II.
