Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) formally launched over the weekend the two new variants of the Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Hilux in the Philippines. The arrival of the GR-spec SUV and pickup truck followed several months after the Gazoo Racing-inspired nameplates were launched in Thailand.

Both the Fortuner GR-S and the Hilux GR-S further expand TMP’s GR lineup which includes the Vios GR-S sedan, the GR Supra, and the GR-version of the Yaris, which quickly sold out.

“We mark another milestone as we combine the reliable IMV platform with Toyota Gazoo Racing’s spirit of thrill!” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto during the official model launch.

“When Toyota Motor Philippines first introduced the IMV series in 2005, we had a vision of bringing dependable and durable vehicles perfect for the needs of Filipinos. Fifteen years later, our IMVs continue to be a worthy companion for adventures, daily trips, and tough demands of the country’s many roads. Under the development of Toyota Gazoo Racing, we are bringing the motorsports excitement to your daily drives with a sportier, heart-racing reinvention that pushes the limits of the models we know and love” added the TMP boss.

According to TMP, it intends to make sportier options available for racing fans and motorsports enthusiasts who want to express this passion through their daily drivers.

The Fortuner GR-S gets redesigned front and rear bumpers, fog lamp garnish, body-color arch mold and back door garnish, as well as a bi-tone rear spoiler.

On the other hand, the Hilux GR-S gets a black gloss G-mesh front grille design with the bold Toyota emblem at the front end of the pickup truck. It also receives gloss black body-colored over fenders and sports bars.

Both models wear machine-cut finished 18-inch alloy wheels with black-tinted clear coating.

Inside, the new GR-spec pickup truck and SUV offer new interior layouts. Customers can expect sporty seats with suede and leather material with red stitching. The steering wheel also wears the same type of leather with red stitching.

The Fortuner GR-S gets matte carbon trims on the center cluster.

The GR treatment not only gave the Fortuner and the Hilux new aesthetic upgrades but also new features. The Hilux GR-S now comes with paddle shifters and a panoramic view monitor while the Fortuner GR-S comes with a kick sensor for its power back door.

Both models are equipped with hood-lift assist.

Safety-wise, Toyota packs the new GR-S models with features found on the LTD and Q variants like a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, and adaptive cruise control. The Toyota Fortuner GR-S gets additional safeguards in the form of a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.

They are fitted with new front GR brake calipers and the new monotube type suspension for a more stable, comfortable ride, and race-like steering feel. The Fortuner GR-S also gets rear GR brake calipers.

The Toyota Fortuner GR-S is available in White Pearl CS and Attitude Black Mica, both priced at P2,509,00. Meanwhile, the Hilux GR-S is available in Super White and Attitude Black Mica, priced at P1,985,000, and Emotional Red, priced at P2,005,00.

The new GR-S models will be available in all of TMP’s dealerships across the country starting November 3.
