Toyota to implement organizational changes to hydrogen business area

Toyota announced that it is set to implement organizational changes to its hydrogen business area.

According to the Japanese automotive brand, the changes are aimed to accelerate customer-oriented product development and production in fuel cell or hydrogen-related products.

In addition, the updates to Toyota’s hydrogen business area will consolidate the process under a single leader, enabling speedy decision-making and execution.

To act as head of Toyota’s hydrogen business area is Mitsumasa Yamagata who currently sits as the Senior General Manager of the brand’s Vehicle Development Center Powertrain Planning and System Development Field. He is also the Powertrain Company President and Gazoo Racing Company Hybrid Electric Vehicle Development Head.

Working beside Yamagata and to serve as Toyota’s hydrogen business area Chief Project Leader is Yoshihiko Hamamura, who is at the moment Senior General Manager of the company’s Hydrogen Business Field.

Shinichi Yasui, who currently holds a position in Toyota Motor North America, Inc. and Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. will also become the brand’s hydrogen business area Chief Project Leader.

Further, Takashi Uehara will be in charge of Toyota System Supply of the company’s hydrogen business area. He will also be the President of the Powertrain Company and the Chief Project Leader of the Powertrain System Development Field.

The changes, which will be executed on July 1, are expected to strengthen Toyota’s alliances with local partners in Europe and China, where the hydrogen mobility market is rapidly expanding, and promote sustainable commercialization.
