The local distributor for Japanese automotive brand Toyota has launched the newest for the best-selling sedan in the country Vios, which now wears the sportline badge of Toyota Gazoo Racing.
Via virtual reveal, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) President Atsuhiro Okamoto announced the introduction of the motorsport-inspired variant, the Vios GR-S, describing it as “the country’s most trusted model and injected with GR spirit.”
“There are over 340,000 Vios owners out there who use these reliable, tried and tested vehicles in their daily lives. Our goal with the Vios GR-S is to transform your reliable everyday car, to a Vios that gives a more pleasurable drive, whether on track or on the road… the Vios GR-S will bring next level thrill in your everyday drive,” Okamoto said.
The latest variant offering under the Vios nameplate is also the premier GR-S model in its lineup.
Sporting a new look, the aesthetics is highlighted by the GR emblem, the new front bumper and grille design its aerokit, and the spoiler.
The GR-S tag—which stands for Gazoo Racing Sport—serves as a guarantee that the car was developed guided by Toyota Gazoo Racing who focuses in developing the Toyota lineup of products built with racing DNA.
The occupants will be welcomed by race-ready interiors such as leather with red stitching on the wheel, shift lever and knob material, and the suede/synthetic leather pairing with red stitching seats.
The 10-speed CVT transmission variant is fitted with seven SRS airbags and clearance sonars for a safer drive, as well as easy smartphone apps access with the Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility.
But those who are dying to buy this new variant will have to a few days more starting today, as the new Vios GR-S will be available in all of TMP dealerships on payday Monday (March 15). Those who would want to learn more about the vehicle may want to catch the online public launch this Saturday (March 13), 6PM on Toyota’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.

More good news comes with the revealing of the Vios GR-S as the XE variant and higher are now equipped with Apple Carplay and Android Auto Compatibility and accessible Bluetooth switches on the steering wheel.
Relatedly, just like the other Vios offerings in the country, the GR-S variety will be locally-assembled. What’s more good news is that the GR accessories found in the new Vios variant can be bought and fitted to the non-GR line of the sedan.
It was of July last year when TMP revealed the recent update of the Vios.
