Toyota once again attributed the planned suspension for November to the parts shortage resulting from the spread of COVID-19. The company acknowledged that the scheduled action could cause considerable inconvenience to its customers (who are waiting for the delivery of their vehicles), suppliers, and other concerned parties.
“It remains difficult to look ahead due to the impact of semiconductor parts and other factors. However, we will continue to closely examine the supply of parts and work with related parties to consider all possible measures to ensure that we can deliver as many vehicles as possible to our customers at the earliest possible date,” Toyota said in a press release.
The Japanese automotive brand states that it will temporarily suspend production in several of its factories in Japan namely its Takaoka Plant, Tsutsumi Plant, Tahara Plant, Miyata Plant, Iwate Plant, Miyagi Ohira Plant, and Fujimatsu Plant. Toyota-owned Hino Motors will also provisionally suspend operations of its Hamura Plant next month.
According to the carmaker, the models affected by the abovementioned planned suspension include the Toyota Corolla, Toyota Corolla Cross, Toyota Corolla Touring, Toyota Rav4, Toyota Camry, and Toyota Crown. Lexus nameplates such as the LS, IS, RC, RC F, and NX will also be affected.
