Last December 19, 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) bill into law. It sought to reduce tax on personal income while simultaneously imposing a higher tax on fuel, tobacco, sugary beverages, and cars. With the signing of the law, the increase in vehicle excise tax became official.
The good news is, not all vehicle prices increased. Some remain unchanged, while others even saw a significant drop. Pickups in particular, were excluded from the new excise tax schedule. For those interested to see how Toyota's prices have changed post-TRAIN law, please refer to the tables below.
