TESDA bestows Two Stars Award to Toyota tech school for course implementation

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has conferred the Two Stars Award to Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology (TMP Tech) “for quality standards and course implementation of Automotive Servicing National Certification (NC) Level IV."

TMP Tech was given the honor during the 4th National Quality TVET Forum, among 338 TESDA-accredited automotive Technical-Vocational Institutions (TVIs) nationwide.

In a statement, TMP explained that the Two Stars Award is the second highest distinction under the TESDA’s System for TVET Accreditation and Recognition (STAR) Program “that aims to promote and uphold excellence among TVIs.”

“This year, while no TVI has received the Three Stars Awards, only five among TVIs in the Philippines have been conferred with the Two Stars Award. With TMP Tech being the only awardee among TVIs with an automotive course, it affirms its standing as a ‘Center of Technical Proficiency’ on the national level, made evident by its development and implementation of sound processes and procedures to establish a Quality Assurance System in NC training and assessment,” the local distributor for the Japanese automotive brand Toyota noted.

The company said that the “TMP Tech finds ways to continuously enhance its curriculum through collaboration with partners and adaptation of blended learning modality” amid the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest partnership forged with Colombo Plan Staff College resulted in the TMP Tech instructors engaging in online training on global TVET standards with professionals from various Asian countries.

Further, the school boosted its scholarship programs in partnership with the Toyota Dealers Association and GT Foundation, Inc., among others, on top of its flexible tuition payment schemes for students facing economic difficulties.

TMP Tech was founded by Toyota Motor Corporation Honorary Chairman Dr. Shoichiro Toyota and TMP Founding Chairman Dr. George SK Ty in 2013. From the beginning, the school has been designed toward developing highly skilled Filipino youth through world-class education.

“It has established its presence as a major source of highly competent automotive professionals for the local and global Toyota Network,” TMP claimed.

Currently, TMP Tech holds online classes and workshop sessions under strict health and safety protocols in its campus in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. Enrollment for the incoming batch opens with an announcement of online admissions for student applicants.
