The 9 vehicles we’d love to get for Christmas

10th pevs 4

Christmas is indeed the season of giving. There’s a reason why everyone’s jolly and merry this time of the year. And just for the heck of it, here are the nine vehicles we’d love to get for Christmas — just in case Santa’s listening.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many variants does the Toyota Lite Ace have?

The Toyota Lite Ace has four variants.
  • What awards did the Isuzu D-Max win in 2022?

The Isuzu D-Max won the Pick-up of the year award from C! Awards and several wins at the 2022 Philippine Rallycross Series (PHRX).
  • Suzuki Jimny

Alright, let’s start small — literally and figuratively. The Suzuki Jimny is a car that has been on every adventure-seeking and outgoing car guy’s radar. I mean this little guy hangs out with Toyota FJ Cruisers, Ford Rangers, and Jeep Wranglers for chrissake.

    Suzuki Jimny

In addition, the Suzuki Jimny is starting to gain a solid following in the custom car scene with many builders slapping tons of aggressive-looking accessories on their small, but undoubtedly capable, 4X4 off-roader.

    Toyota Lite Ace

Bet you didn’t see this coming.

The Toyota Lite Ace is one of the vehicles we’d want this Christmas. The returning nameplate was revived by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) as a light commercial vehicle (LCV). This means that small business owners can now enjoy Toyota reliability in their ever-important transport and delivery fleet.

It is available in four variants (panel van, pickup, FX, and cargo) and is priced from P600,000 to P727,000.

    Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Filipinos do have a love affair for sport utility vehicles (SUV), and the Mitsubishi Montero Sport is a nameplate that’s often on the top three list of every car buyer.

The Mitsubishi Montero Sport can help make owners a statement thanks to its sharp and striking design. At the fore is the brand’s Dynamic Shield front fascia while the rear offers a similar aggressive setup.

And for those who want an SUV with a little more wow factor, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) recently launched a Ralliart version of the Montero Sport. Although lacking in actual performance upgrades, it does come with several cosmetic updates like Ralliart exterior appointments.

    Nissan Kicks e-Power

The Nissan Kicks e-Power takes Filipino car buyers a step closer to cleaner and sustainable mobility. The compact crossover does run on gasoline but its 100-percent electric motor-driven system makes it a fuel-efficient vehicle to drive in.

With it, Nissan is growing its eco-friendly lineup in the Philippines, which started with the Leaf electric vehicle (EV).

    Hyundai Ioniq 5

And while we’re on the topic of EVs, one of the battery electric vehicles (BEV) we want is the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Although not yet officially released, the South Korean EV has made its mark in the Philippine automotive scene with appearances in various shows like the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) and the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS).

    Honda Brio

A fan of small cars myself, the Honda Brio is a vehicle I always had my eye on.

For a reasonable price, you get a small and sporty ride. It packs a 1.2-liter engine mated either to a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This setup makes around 88 horsepower (hp) with 110Nm of torque, ideal for city driving and for occasional trips outside the metro.

    Mazda MX-5

Who could resist the sophisticated Euro-Japanese vibes of the Mazda MX-5? This small and sporty car proves that it’s got more than just style by competing and participating in various motorsports events here and abroad.

    Team MSCC Miata

Recently, the Mazda MX-5 won the 2022 Petron Makabayan Endurance Race Challenge piloted by Angie King, Tyson Syn and Gaby dela Merced.

    Geely Emgrand

The Geely Emgrand is yet another car we’d love for Christmas. The sedan was recently released by Geely Philippines, bolstering their lineup with the addition of a stylish and sophisticated model.

Features we love about the Geely Emgrand include its 17-inch large alloy wheels, its 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and the modern-looking eight-inch infotainment system.

    Isuzu D-Max

The Isuzu D-Max is also one of the more popular pickup trucks in the Philippines. While others may say it lacks in style, others would argue that it does well performance-wise. That said, the truck won the Pick-up of the year award at the 18th Annual C! Awards and several wins at the 2022 Philippine Rallycross Series (PHRX).
