Toyota’s iconic SUV, the Toyota Land Cruiser, has just broken the eight-figure barrier, managing to sell its 10-millionth unit in Australia earlier this week. Toyota Australia made the announcement via a press release.
The full-size SUV is available in an estimated "170 countries and regions," according to the memo. Australia is one of the countries where the Land Cruiser is a popular choice, owing to the rugged country terrains that make up most of the country-slash-continent. Over 10 percent of the 10 million total were bought from Aussie dealerships, which equates to 1.065 million Cruiser units.
In 2018, Toyota sold 318,000 Land Cruisers globally, and 13.2 percent (42,267 units) went to the Land Down Under. In comparison, Americans only bought 3,222 examples that same year.
Of course, 10 million is measly compared to Toyota's bestselling model, the Corolla, which has sold over 40 million worldwide. Still, it's a major achievement, and the figure is nothing to balk at.
