2021 Toyota GR GT Cup Round 1 rolls out this weekend

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is ready to bring its signature waku doki excitement again as the first round of this year’s e-motorsports event, the 2021 Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup, is expected heat up the weekend.

The first round of races at the virtual racetrack will be streamed live via official Facebook page of Toyota Motor Philippines. The live broadcast will begin Friday, April 30, 2021 at 8 p.m. (Philippine Standard Time).

As stated on the TMP invite, “There is so much to look forward into this heart-pumping e-motorsports event”.

TMP said that in the preliminary rounds, viewers can have a glimpse of who might dominate the race by immediately racking up points to claim to be the fastest Filipino driver this year. “The honor and glory will surely resonate in the Philippine e-sports scene. This is just the beginning."

They said that aside from bragging rights, winners will also receive rewards like cash prizes plus gaming gear and devices (including a gaming steering wheel, portable gaming console, a high-definition gaming headset, top-tier gaming monitors).

“Tablets, smart home devices and portable action cameras are also in the purview for the gadget lovers,” TMP noted.

Further, GR GT Cup Philippines participants are urged to collect as many points as possible by entering and re-qualifying for all rounds starting from April to June 2021.

“Round 2 Leaderboard starts on May 28 and the Race Heat landing on May 29. While Round 3 Leaderboard Race lights green on June 18, and the Final Heat happens the next day, June 19, where we will find out who will dominate the digital circuit,” TMP mentioned.

Those who compete professionally with esports background and affinity are in the GR GT Cup’s Sporting Class while the casuals now have the chance to show off their driving prowess at the GR GT Cup’s Promotional Class.

Celebrities and members of the motoring media will also be joining this year’s Celebrity/Media Class which will be announced soon.
