Singapore Motor Show opens doors after 3-year hiatus

The Singapore Motor Show once again opened its doors to exhibitors, the motoring media, and event-goers as the Lion City’s premiere automotive event finally made its comeback yesterday at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Center.

Leading the opening ceremony of the four-day event was Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Tan Chong International Limited (TCIL) Glenn Tan.

Months after its return was announced, the 2023 Singapore Motor Show is again playing host to vehicle launches and automotive displays.

Per the event organizers, a total of 24 car brands are participating in the expo. They are Alpine, Audi, BMW, BYD, Citroen, Ducati, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, Lotus, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, MG, Mini, Nissan, Peugeot, Polestar, Skoda, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.

Event highlights include celebrity appearances; a stunt show featuring Russ Swift, who also made an appearance in last year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS); and a raffle, whose winners will get the chance to drive home a Nissan Kicks e-Power or a Subaru Impreza.

And while we’re on the topic of Subies, the Japanese automotive brand took center stage in this year’s Singapore Motorshow as it unveiled the new WRX and WRX Wagon. Further, Subaru showcased the Forester e-Boxer Hybrid GT edition and previewed the marque’s first all-electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) — the Subaru Solterra EV SUV.

Other vehicles that were on display at the 2023 Singapore Motor Show include the Audi e-tron GT “Electric Dreams” artcar, which was made in collaboration with Singaporean artist Andy Yang, and the special-edition Hyundai Ioniq 5 “First 100.” 

Also on display was the Mazda MX-30 electric vehicle (EV); and the tasteful Mini Strip and Mini Recharged.

The 2023 Singapore Motor Show will run until January 15, 2023.
