New and Used Chana Benni for Sale Philippines

Chana Benni for sale Philippines | Silver Chana Benni

Before Chang'an Auto Co. Ltd., or Chana, made its debut in the Philippines in August 2008, it began operating as early as 1862, making weapons and armored vehicles during the Qing dynasty. With a history spanning 153 years and having 32 years of experience in marketing passenger vehicles, Chana has been manufacturing cars for the Chinese military since 1957, and trucks as early as 1980s. The Chongqing-based automaker is known to be one of the 'Big Four' Chinese carmakers, with its line of products comprising of microvans, vans, small commercial trucks, and no-frills passenger cars – like the subcompact hatchback Chana Benni.

Produced in 2006, Benni was Chana’s first passenger vehicle, with a mini version – Chana Benni Mini – following in 2010. In China, it was marketed as Changan BenBen with the badge meaning moving forward. The Chana Benni was introduced – along with Chana’s other microvans – upon Chana’s arrival here in the Philippines at the 2008 Manila International Auto Show via Focus Ventures, Inc – the distributor of Chana back then. Sales lasted until 2012. Sad to say that skeptic thoughts on quality and durability often follow upon hearing ‘China’ or ‘Chinese’ when referring to a brand of a product. What’s good about the Chana Benni Philippines is that despite the preconceived notions of Chinese brands, this cute, little hatchback is determined to prove its audience wrong. A new or 2nd hand Chana Benni will give you a value for your money by its performance and several features that may surprise you. To know more about the Chana Benni, read below.

Chana Benni Review in the Philippines

Chana Benni Specs and Performance

Under the small hood of this hatchback lies 1.3-liter 16-valve SOHC gas engine that delivers a maximum power of 84hp @ 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 110Nm @3,500 rpm. Those interested will be glad to know that they have an option between a five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic transmission. Independent McPherson strut makes up Chana Benni’s front suspension, while a rigid rear axle with torsion beam makes up the rear suspension. And in terms of performance, did you know that in 2007, the little Chana Benni participated in the 21,000 km Chana Trax expedition from China to South Africa and survived the rough trip without major mechanical issues? Let that sink in.

Chana Benni Interior

If you would scour the net on information about the interior of the Chana Benni, you would perhaps come across, one, two...or maybe several comments on its interior smell. A funky, strong new car smell may attack your noses upon sitting on the throne. That may be so, but it is undeniable that the Benni is not that shabby-looking for its price – it is simple and neatly-designed, actually. Others may be put off (the brand-snobs and the luxury-inclined may find themselves turning their heads away) and may feel the interior cheap because of some plastic materials used (like the plastic inserts on the center dashboard) but the Chana Benni offers quite a roomy interior with simple designs of grey and silver trims. Other interior features include:

  • Matte Black M/T Stick
  • Sculpted, Durable Cloth Type Seats
  • 2365mm Wheelbase Dimension
  • CD/Radio with Dsp Settings
  • Fluorescent White Lighting on the Gauges
  • Built-In Security Chip in the Original Key Fob

Chana Benni Exterior

Benni’s exterior may remind you of some popular cars like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Honda Jazz, and Toyota Avanza on certain points of view. Chana Benni’s design language though, is Italian-inspired, which is evident by the position of its side view mirrors and tail light design. You would also be pleased about its surprisingly good exterior paint job. Other exterior features include:

  • Projector-Type Headlamps with Auxiliary Lamps
  • Rear Tail Lamps with Auxiliary Red Fog Lamps
  • Chrome Handles
  • 14-inch Mag Wheels with Kumho Tires
  • Standard Rear Roof Spoiler
  • Standard Rear Wiper Window

Chana Benni Color Options

If you think its performance and fuel efficiency are all it offers to make up its bang-for-buck quality, then think again! We’ve mentioned that the Chana Benni has a good exterior paint job, and what’s more is that it is offered in three different colors! Aside from Dreamlike Blue, exterior colors available for the Chana Benni are:

  • Dazzling Gold
  • Free Green
