Daewoo Matiz for sale Philippines | Daewoo Matiz price Philippines | Gold Daewoo Matiz

The Daewoo Matiz, which is also known as the Chevrolet Spark in other markets thanks to the fact that the vehicle is produced by GM Korea, is a five-door hatchback vehicle that ran from 1998 to 2005. Basically, all vehicles manufactured by GM Korea are badged as Daewoo, but the marque was eventually laid to rest when GM dropped the Daewoo nameplate back in 2011.

The Daewoo Matiz models in the Philippines are actually the first generation models of the Spark. Its design was based on the Lucciola, a 1993 Fiat Cinquecento concept by Italdesign Giugiaro, a design and engineering company based in Moncalieri, Italy. Known for its highly competitive pricing and not much else, a Daewoo Matiz from a used cars for sale dealer is definitely one of the most affordable and reliable second hand small car options you can find.

The first-generation Matiz is easily identifiable by its round headlights, which Daewoo used for the model until its second generation. If you see a Matiz with its year listed as beyond 2005 but with round headlights, it’s most likely a Korean import that didn’t go through the proper channels. For your protection, ask for the vehicle’s registration and service records, and make sure that everything is in order.

Daewoo Matiz Review in the Philippines

Daewoo Matiz Specs and Performance

The Matiz initially used a sole 796cc transverse straight-three engine that delivers an output of 51 hp and 68.5 Nm of torque. Because it’s a three-pot engine, pushing it to its limits doesn’t yield that much noise, and Daewoo has designed the Matiz well to keep low-speed vibrations less irritating in comparison to its counterparts. Top speed for the engine is 144 km/h, while acceleration from 0-100 km/h clocks at 17 seconds.

Manual transmission is standard in the vehicle, though in certain markets, the Matiz also came equipped with an automatic version. Available in three trim levels, the upscale variant Matiz came with body-colored bumpers, fog lights, wheel covers, rear spoiler, and a stereo. Optional features included central locking, driver airbag, electric front windows, power steering, roof rails, and anti-lock braking system.

Daewoo Matiz Fuel Consumption

Fuel consumption for the Matiz isn’t completely convincing. The car is pretty economical when driven gently, but transforms into a veritable gas guzzler when pushed, which is expected of small engine cars with short-legged gearing. Below is a list of Daewoo Matiz years and their corresponding fuel consumption rates, for your reference:

New Daewoo Matiz fuel consumption:

Daewoo Matiz Features

Daewoo Matiz Convenience and Entertainment Features

Despite the Matiz’s apparent completeness, it doesn’t feature any rear head restraints, and the ones at the front don’t look like they can provide tall people with enough whiplash protection. Then again, the vehicle will do fine for a family of diminutive stature. Below are the available creature comforts inside Daewoo’s little car.

  • Heated rear window
  • RDS radio/cassette player
  • Power steering
  • Remote boot opening
  • Remote fuel release
  • Vanity mirror

Daewoo Matiz Safety Features

One of the Matiz’s best qualities is in its brakes, which are some of the best-performing in the business. They’re so good, that having an anti-lock braking system would be a redundancy for the vehicle. Other nifty safety features for the Matiz are listed below:

  • Dual airbags
  • Engine immobilizer
  • Front head restraints
  • Security glass etching
  • Headlamp leveling
  • Side impact protection bars

Daewoo Matiz Interior

For the price, there’s really very little one can ask for from the Daewoo Matiz. It’s a practically complete little car that comes with all the features that you need to get to your destination problem-free. Inside, four people can fit in comfortably, with plenty of headroom to spare. If you don’t mind the no-frills look, the Daewoo Matiz can get the job done for you. Here’s what’s inside the vehicle:

  • 60/40 folding rear seat
  • Cup holder
  • Front ashtray
  • Digital clock
  • Seat back pockets
  • Tinted glass

Daewoo Matiz Exterior

The Daewoo Matiz is the lucky recipient of the hard shells that old cars are known for. The bumpers for instance, are designed to withstand some very heavy hits. Side protection strips are an available option for the vehicle when it was still a part of the brand new market, but if your second hand Matiz doesn’t come equipped with them, you can still purchase them from well-stocked accessories dealers around the metro. As for the vehicle’ standard exterior features, here’s what’s available:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Pillar-type rear combination lamps
  • Classy side garnish
  • HID headlamps
  • Fog lamps
  • Trapezoidal honeycomb chrome grille

Daewoo Matiz Color Options

The Daewoo Matiz went through a lot of color sets during its run. Below are six of the options available for the hatchback’s last year model, 2005.

  • Electric Yellow Metallic
  • Teal Blue Metallic
  • Cobalt Blue
  • Cyber Green Metallic
  • Peach Orange Metallic
