New and Used Mitsubishi RVR for Sale Philippines

Mitsubishi RVR for sale | Mitsubishi RVR price | White Mitsubishi RVR

The Mitsubishi RVR, known as the Mitsubishi Space Runner in other markets, is a line of vehicles manufactured by Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi from 1991 to 2002, lasting two generations. Mitsubishi brought back the RVR in 2010, which is known as the ASX in other markets, including the Philippines. Whereas the first two generations were categorized as a multi-purpose vehicle, the re-introduced version is classified as a compact crossover sport utility vehicle.

The RVR was Mitsubishi’s representative to the ‘Recreational Vehicle’ category—RVR actually stands for Recreation Vehicle Runner. It had a generously-sized cabin with a spacious 4-5 person capacity. The design was considered advanced for the time, which made the vehicle appealing to young people. The Mitsubishi RVR was a decent seller when it first came out, gaining popularity due to its easy to use sliding door in the passenger side. Unfortunately, sales declined as minivans grew out of fashion, and Mitsubishi decided to axe its production in 2002.

The resurrection of the RVR nameplate in 2010 was an attempt to cash in on the popularity of the first generation RVR with the nostalgic public. However, the new version does not feature the sliding door feature which made the vehicle popular in the first place, which, for many, doesn’t justify calling it by the name RVR.

Mitsubishi RVR Review in the Philippines

Mitsubishi RVR Specs and Performance

The first Mitsubishi RVR Philippines, introduced in February 1991, was equipped with a 2.0-liter 16V DOHC turbo straight 4-cylinder engine mated to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. Output for this powertrain was rated at 228 to 247 hp. Meanwhile, the second generation came with two engine types—a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and a 2.4-liter diesel. The 2.4 version was capable of 150 hp and 225 Nm of torque, while the 1.8 delivered 136 hp and 178 Nm of torque. The last year models of the RVR were equipped with a wishbone front suspension and a helical spring rear.

As for the vehicle’s driving performance, owners will enjoy the fact that they can reach triple-digit speeds with ease, thanks to a 0-100 kph acceleration time of 10 seconds which, for a vehicle that weighs 1300 kg., is quite impressive.

Mitsubishi RVR Fuel Consumption

Old Mitsubishi RVR models are poor picks when it comes to fuel economy. That’s because these antiquated vehicles use a carburetor system which are known to be gas guzzlers. If you’re looking to save on fuel costs, then your obvious choice is going to be the later year models, preferably those from the second generation. Aside from being economical with fuel consumption, these models are powerful enough to pull the vehicle even when fully laden.

Second hand Mitsubishi RVR fuel consumption:

  • Mitsubishi RVR 2002: 7.5 l/100km average rating
  • Mitsubishi RVR 2001: 7.3 l/100km average rating
  • Mitsubishi RVR 2000: 11.1 l/100km average rating
  • Mitsubishi RVR 1999: 13.1 l/100km average rating
  • Mitsubishi RVR 1998: 12.0 l/100km average rating
  • Mitsubishi RVR 1997: 11.0 l/100km average rating

Mitsubishi RVR Features

Mitsubishi RVR Convenience and Entertainment Features

The Mitsubishi RVR is quite the rare breed. It’s an MPV, but its height is similar to that of a large sedan. As such, driving experience is similar to that of a car. What’s surprising about the RVR is that it offers the great visibility that MPVs are known for, thereby offering two of the greatest advantages that MPVs and cars have to offer. Other perky features of the now defunct vehicle include:

  • Central door locking
  • Keyless entry/start
  • Electric windows
  • Power steering
  • Manual air conditioning
  • Seat height adjustment

Mitsubishi RVR Safety Features

Mitsubishi-made vehicles are known to be some of the safest cars in the world for the price, and the RVR is no exception. As a family-oriented vehicle, the Mitsubishi RVR comes with lots of decent standard safety features to keep you and your family safe, including:

  • Anti-lock Braking System
  • Driver airbag
  • Passenger airbag
  • Side airbags
  • Ventilated front discs
  • Fog lamps

Mitsubishi RVR Interior

Inside, the RVR can fit four to five average-sized persons. Though the RVR offers plenty of space, one pet peeve of the vehicle is that it doesn’t come with rear air conditioners, so rear passengers may find the vehicle uncomfortable, especially during summer. Still, the vehicle does offer a few good interior takeaways such as:

  • Seat height adjustment
  • Leather steering wheel
  • Adjustable steering wheel
  • Rear headrests
  • Folding rear seat
  • Center armrest

Mitsubishi RVR Exterior

The RVR isn’t really big on looks, but it’s well-built. Those looking for a reliable used car will find plenty to appreciate in the RVR. Some of the vehicle’s standard exterior features are listed below:

  • Interval wiper
  • Alloy wheels
  • Roof rails
  • Keyed bumpers
  • Tinted windows
  • Electric heated mirrors

Mitsubishi RVR Color Options

Seven colors make up the Mitsibushi RVR’s list of paint finishes. Six of these are listed here:

  • White Solid
  • Starlight
  • Cool Silver
  • Red
  • Lightning Blue
  • Titanium
